Direct selling industry in China
China’s contribution to the direct selling in terms of annual sales and revenue is not a new story. The sector in the region has grown to new parameters in the past decade. Despite the decline in figures in the past year, MLM in China is thriving towards success rapidly.
The year 2022 saw MLM China contributing more to the wellness sector with 43% of the total sales comprising of the same. This was followed by 25% of total sales from the cosmetics and personal care sector which is the fast growing and most competent sector.
The Chinese city of Hongkong contributed 71% to the global wellness sector in the year 2022, which is the second highest share after India’s contribution of 74%. Taiwan, yet another Chinese city made 66% contribution to the same sector, which again is one of the top five contributions in the year to the sector.
The Chinese contribution to the direct selling industry remains unchanged year after year. With annual retail sales of $15,043 million, the sector’s sales figures remain consistent with its innovations and marketing strategies. The region’s increasing affinity towards direct selling is evident in its number of active distributors which is at 2,970,000 as per the 2023 WFDSA report. The region falls under the mid penetration market with 0.085% penetration.
